"Sharing God's Word with the World"

 

What is Regency Baptist Church's philosophy about missions?

At Regency Baptist Church, we believe that God is interested in our reaching people with the gospel message throughout the world.  The Bible teaches us in II Peter 3:9 that "God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."  We believe that this shows that God is "missions-minded" and desires that all people would trust Jesus Christ as their Savior.  In order to bring people to a place of repenting of their sins and turning to faith in Jesus Christ, God has given Christians the responsibility to give the gospel to every person, regardless of who they are, where they are, or what they currently believe.  Our Lord Jesus Christ said the following in Matthew 28:18-20:

"All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."

We believe that this same power that Christ gave to His disciples is available to us as Christians to go and spread the gospel to all nations.  In this passage, the phrase "teaching all nations" simply means that we are to make disciples, and we are to obediently use the power that God gives to us to share His Word with others.  Jesus further said in Acts 1:8:

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Again, we see the power that God gives to His children and His command to be witnesses for Him.  We are to be witnesses to those around us both in Arlington, Texas and around the world.  Our church family practices obedience to this command through our regular door-to-door outreach visitation in our community, through personal soul-winning of friends and family, and through our support of missionaries serving the Lord in various fields. 

We also believe that God calls faithful believers out of local churches, as He did with Paul and Barnabas in Acts 13, to serve as missionaries and go "to the uttermost part of the earth" and preach the gospel.  Regency Baptist Church enthusiastically supports foreign missions, and our people understand the importance of reaching the lost and dying people of the world.  Over the years, we have had the privilege of seeing God call several families that have faithfully served in our church to go to the far-flung corners of the world to reach the lost.  Click here or scroll down on this page to meet our missionary families.

 OFFERING

What is the Globe Offering?

The Globe Offering is a unique love offering given in addition to our regular monthly missionary support and is dedicated to help with the financial needs of the missionary families that we support as a church.  During each Sunday Evening service, we set aside a few minutes to read a current missionary letter and take the Globe Offering.    Typically, we dedicate three consecutive Globe Offerings to one of our missionary families.  We believe that this portion of the service is a time to get better acquainted with our missionaries and their ministries and to learn how to pray effectively and specifically for them.
